Welcome to Clement Dickens Website

BulletThe brief was for part of the existing clubhouse to be demolished and a new one built, complete with function suite and external works whilst the usual everyday activities of the Rugby Club continued.

We successfully secured the Contract through a competitive tender submission which was based on Consultants drawings, specification and bill of quantities. The project ran from 10th January 2005 until 5th August 2005.

The form of contract was the JCT Standard Form of Building Contract, Private with Quantities 1998 incorporation amendments 1 to 5.

The Design Team included was made up of the following:
Main Contractor: Clement Dickens & Son Ltd
Contract Administrator: Gordon Aitken Associates
Architect: Michael Jackson Assoc.
Structural Engineer: Carr Faulkner
M&E Engineer: Petit Singleton
PQS: Gordon Aitken

The basic methods of construction were flight auger piles, reinforced concrete beams and slabs. The skeleton of the building is made up of a structural steel frame tied in with precast concrete floor beams. The external skin consists of a brick and block cavity wall with a composite cladding panel for the roof. The interior is extensively fitted out with bar, lounge and catering equipment. A quality environment was created with high standard finishes. The external works consisted of a new car-park, footpath and patio area.

The contract was successfully handed over to the client who was extremely impressed with the professional and courteous way in which the project was procured and managed and the superlative standard of workmanship.

Since the new clubhouse has been opened to its members and the public it has made several positive headlines in the local press with regard to its design, build quality and usability. It has generated a good atmosphere and may have contributed to Fylde’s successful season.
